At the Terex stand

07 May 2008

Terex Comedil has launched a new range of flat top tower cranes, the medium CTT series. This series, placed in between the already successful city and the big series, was created with the production of the CTT 231 (right), which will be exhibited in the skies at ConExpo. The CTT 231 has a wide range of mechanical and configuration jib options making it possible to be assembled with a maximum jib of 70 meters and a minimum jib of 30 meters and with the possibility to use 5 meter jib sections. Terex says the CTT 231 is a versatile machine, suitable for constructing both small buildings in open spaces and for constructing big buildings reaching considerable free standing heights with steel cables and speed of winch compatible with today's construction needs. The jib point capacity is of 2.1 metric ton with maximum capacity of 10 to 12 metric tons.

The Stinger-class BT 4792 (below left) with its lifting capacity of 47,000 lbs and total weight of 60,000 lbs is a versatile machine. In addition to standard crane applications it is very simple to mount a working cage for one or two persons working platform. This vastly expands the crane operator's mission options. The maximum height of the main boom head is 101 ft - or 144 ft with main boom extension. Easy and safe crane operation is enhanced through the BT 4792's exclusive color-coded boom and load charts. This allows the operator to determine boom extension, boom angle and load capacity. Equipment also includes: Electronic load moment indicator and anti-two-block device are standard, as well as are dual control stations with a direct mechanically controlled hydraulic system. The 2-speed planetary winch has a 10,500 lb maximum permissible 1 part line, 37,000 lb breaking strength, and 186 ft/min maximum line speed. Its maximum road travel speed is 74 mph.
