Tadano ATM 65G-5

On show from Tadano will be four ATs, including the ATF50G-3, ATF65G-4, ATF90G-4 and ATF220G-5. Launched in June 2005 internationally, the Tadano ATF 65G-5 replaced the highly popular 60 metric ton capacity ATF 60-4. With a 68-metric ton (75 ton) capacity, the ATF 65G-4 was the third in Tadano's 'G' series (Global series) launched about four years ago.

The four axle model retains the two-engine taxi concept of its predecessor and it comes within the 12 metric tons (13.44 tons) per axle limit with a double folding jib, 8x6 drive, 16.00 tires, the full 12 metric tons of counterweight and two hook blocks.

The 44 meter single cylinder boom is lighter and has a new profile for safer lifts and a stronger chart. A 9 to 16 meter boom extension gives a maximum hook height of 61 meters. As Standard drive/steer is 8 x 6 while 8 x 8 is an option. Also fitted is the automatic electro-hydraulic steering system used on the other G-series models, the ATF 45-3 and ATF 60-3 for optimal turning radius and maneuverability. All axles are steered, offering crab on site, and the rear axles three and four can be manually steered independently of the two front axles.

On the road the first and second axles are steered, assisted by the fourth axle, which is electronically steered at speeds up to 25 km/h (in line with road regulations). Optional features include the Lift Adjuster load sway reduction system, 8x8 drive/steer and an additional 2.5 tons of counterweight.

The upper cab is of the manufacturer's cockpit design offering improved safety and visibility. The seat and controls tilt inside the cab rather than the whole cab tilting.

Bells and whistles

All of the Tadano all-terrain cranes feature FAUN purpose built frames with two-man, full width carrier cabs of composite structure (steel sheet metal and fiber glass), windshield of laminated safety glass with windshield wipers and washers, sliding side windows of hardened safety glass and adjustable seats with safety belts and headrests. Safety devices include electronic load moment device and automatic overload shut-off, hoist limit switch with shut-off, overload warning and load moment gauge. Digital displays show boom angle, boom length, sheave height, working radius and hook load.
