60th anniversary history book in the works for SC&RA

20 March 2008

In 2008 SC&RA will celebrate its 60th anniversary and to commemorate this event the organization will publish a coffee-table style history book about the organization and the history of the cranes and specialized transport sectors. Tentatively titledLifting and Moving the World, the book will chronicle the history of the SC&RA, and for years to come will serve as an historic account of the people, companies and equipment that comprise the industry.

KHL Group USA, publisher of American Cranes & Transport and sister magazine InternationalCranes and Specialized Transport, will partner with the SC&RA to publish the book, a year-long endeavor with a planned publish date of spring 2008, in time for the organization's annual conference.

KHL Group will draw on hundreds of resources, and will need members' assistance in assuring this project comes to fruition, said Joel Dandrea, SC&RA executive vice president.

“The SC&RA encourages member companies to furnish photographs and narrative copy related to milestones in the history of our industry, specifically from World War II to the present,” said Dandrea. “The editors will be seeking photos of noteworthy construction projects, cranes and vehicles and people who shaped the history of our industry.

”SC&RA members are invited to participate in this book through an underwriting campaign. In a special section titled “Profiles of Progress,” SC&RA member companies may showcase the history of their companies through profile articles.
