Cavotec signs three year Goldhofer deal

Cavotec will supply German heavy transport equipment manufacturer Goldhofer with radio remote controls (RRC) for the next three years in a deal signed in January.

"This arrangement will be mutually beneficial for Cavotec and Goldhofer. We are choosing the right moment to combine our expertise. I am especially pleased that our new Cavotec MC operations in Germany secured this order, as it will significantly accelerate its development and contribution to the group," said Ottonel Popesco, Cavotec CEO.

The remote control systems will allow operators to remotely steer Goldhofer's vehicles which have a payload range of 20 to 10,000 tonnes.

Talking about the state of the market, Morten Bjerkholt, Cavotec micro-control sales manager, said, "We see both interest and sales gradually picking up in Australia, Europe, India and Scandinavia."

The company has also enjoyed recent sales in Russia, with a string of orders in the marine and offshore sectors. They include micro-control systems and loading equipment for Russia's energy industry, and two major orders for electric crane power systems for ports on the Black Sea and Baltic Sea.

In addition, Cavotec will supply two MC-3000-Ex operator terminals with associated Field Base units that will be used to control tanker loader units on winches based on offshore platforms in the Sakhalin 2 oil and gas facility. Built on an island off the eastern coast of Siberia, the Sakhalin 2 development is one of the largest integrated oil and gas projects in the world, designed to supply energy in Far East Russia and the Asia Pacific region.
