Floating crane to operate in largest US port

Associated Terminals LLC (AT), Louisiana, USA, has ordered a Model 8 floating crane from Terex Port Solutions.

The crane is the 30^th model to be sold and will be used for bulk handling operations in the Port of South Louisiana, the largest port in the USA. The crane will be configured as a G HPK 8400 B four-rope grab variant. It will join seven more Terex Gottwald floating cranes in AT’s fleet.

Gary Poirrier, AT director, said, “Our customers are faced with constantly increasing freight volumes coupled with rising cost pressure and this is why they expect us to handle their freight without delay. Since TPS transferred its high-performance mobile harbour crane technology to floating cranes, AT has been able to keep abreast of requirements.”

Terex Gottwald floating cranes are suitable for all types of cargo and a wide range of handling. They are approved for operation on the open sea and are able to work in wind speeds of up to 24 m/s and wave heights of up to 2.5 m.

The new crane will be delivered later this year.
