Intermat, the construction equipment show held in Paris every three years, is adding a new focus to its 2018 event, so that along with its traditional international flavour, the show will have a special focus on France, Africa and the Middle East.

Intermat 2018, which will be held between April 23 and 28, 2018, is being billed as “the only construction exhibition offering access to the French, Mediterranean and African markets”.

The show will also have a new layout compared to the last Intermat in 2015. Hall 7 will no longer be used but Halls 3 and 4, which weren’t used last time, will come into play. This will inevitably result in some exhibitors being moved from their 2015 position.

The show will be split into four main sectors (see layout map); Earthmoving and Demolition (marked in red), Road, Mineral and Foundations (blue), Lifting and Transportation (green), and Buildings and Concrete Industry (orange). This final section will include the World of Concrete Europe event.

The Demo Area to the east of the showground area will be retained, as will the main outdoor areas to the east of Hall 5 and to the east of Hall 6.

Perhaps one of the biggest relocations of exhibitors will be from Hall 6, which was the main earthmoving hall, to Hall 4, as Hall 6 will be over by the World of Concrete event. Hall 3 will be the new Lifting and Transportation hall – the transport sector took part of Hall 5 in 2015.

Intermat suggests that the new layout will give “optimised flow”, “better visitor channelling” and “effective location”. The last Intermat attracted 1,415 exhibitors – around 70% from outside France.

According to show organiser Comexposium, Intermat 2015 attracted 183,000 visitors – 65% of which came from France with more than 80% coming from Europe, Africa and the Middle East combined. In announcing the new focus for Intermat 2018 it would seem that Intermat is looking to exploit its strong following from this combined region.
