AEM addresses key issues of 110th Congress

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has identified several items on the agenda of the US Congress that it will monitor for its members, according to a recent press release.

Economic growth, infrastructure funding, reauthorization of the Farm Bill and the development of renewable fuels are among the legislative issues that the AEM plans to advance, according to Dennis Slater, president.

On how to fund the mounting infrastructure needs, he said, “A reliable and dependable transportation network is vital to the growth and strength of our nation's economy in an ever increasing global marketplace. Increased funding for water infrastructure improvements is also critical to ensure quality of life.”

Slater said AEM looks forward to legislation to further encourage the development of renewable fuels from agriculture and forestry sectors, pushing the 25 by 25 initiative, which aims to derive 25 percent of America's energy needs from renewable resources by the year 2025. The AEM is also monitoring progress on the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, as its passage will help set the climate for investment and capital decisions, Slater said.

AEM is the North American-based international trade group serving the off-road equipment manufacturing industry (construction, agriculture, forestry, mining and utility).
