Bigge expands on East Coast

12 October 2010

Bigge Crane and Rigging in the USA has expanded its Richmond, VA location to more than twice the size of the current yard, according to the company. The new 12 acre (49,000 square metre) facility will be headquarters for all Bigge's heavy haul transportation and crane and rigging operations on the Eastern seaboard.

Bigge said it is also increasing its crane fleet in the East, adding 20 rough terrain cranes and about a dozen crawler cranes. The company has hired additional mechanics, truck drivers and inside sales personnel to keep up with the increased demand for services on the East Coast. "Our current location in Richmond couldn't keep up with our work load", said Joe Nelms, vice president of sales and marketing. "Adding to our fleet and moving to this new complex will help us satisfy the demand."

Bigge also reports the addition of sales staff to its Seattle location and that it has expanded into crane rental at that branch. At Bigge's Houston yard, the company has taken delivery of several Link-Belt HC-278 truck cranes and a large crawler from the port of Galveston, the company said.
