Bolting under pressure

30 April 2008

Enerpac has introduced the ZU4T series electric torque wrench pumps for bolting applications. Designed for easy handling and use, the ZU4T has higher oil fl ow and bypass pressure, runs cooler and is claimed to draw 18% less current than comparable pumps. The pumps are offered in 10,000 – 11,600 psi maximum operating pressures and with a reservoir capacity choice of four or eight liters.

Heavy-duty bearings are used to extend pump life, and the pump has a molded composite shroud to protect the motor and electronics, which also forms an ergonomic, non-conductive handle for easy handling. Remote controls with low-voltage pendants provide additional operator safety. The 1.7 hp (1.25 kW) universal electric motor has a brush design with an auto-stop shunt to prevent commutator damage as the brushes wear.
