The Manitowoc Crane Group booth was a hotbed of activity all week at Bauma, the highlight being the press conference and demonstration of the new GTK1100. Ken Butz and Michael Brunet of MCG.

By all measures, the 2007 Bauma exhibition exceeded expectations for both visitors and exhibitors. Held in Munich, Germany in April, the mammoth construction equipment tradeshow, which had consumed years of planning by most of the participants, did not disappoint.

Adding an extra day to the opening time and the almost constant great weather helped visitor numbers reach a record high of 500,000. Exhibition space and exhibitor numbers were also at record levels. Liebherr boasted the largest exhibition area, its cranes and other equipment taking up blocks and blocks of the outdoor exhibitor grid. Partway through the show, Liebherr had 1,300 staff members working at its booths on one day.

Among the impressive number of new machines on display were several surprises, including several new tower cranes and even a new tower crane manufacturer. Equipment highlights included the Grove GTK1100 and the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 telescopic cranes. Others were the Liebherr LR 11350 crawler, the Manitowoc Model 14000 crawler, Kobelco's SL 6000 crawler, and the Tadano Faun ATF 360G-6 telescopic wheeled mobile.
