Carson buys Terex RT 670 for justice center

Carson Concrete Corporation has purchased a new Terex RT 670 rough terrain crane for work on construction of the new Bucks County Justice Center in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, USA.

The US$ 84 million project near near Philadelphia broke ground in July 2011. As the project neared the heavy construction stage, Carson realized it needed a reliable rough terrain crane to work at the site. "We were looking for a utility crane that moves all day, every day," said Anthony Samango, vice president of Carson Concrete Corp.

"The RT 670 met all the specs we needed, and it was the largest rough terrain crane we could operate with one person," explained Samango.

The 70 US ton (64 metric ton) capacity crane will be at the Bucks County Justice Center jobsite for nearly four months. It was set up with a two-part line. The full power, four section, 111 foot (33.8 meter) telescopic boom offers plenty of length for lifting to support the concrete work on the 9 story building. When the need arises, the available 57 foot (17 m) offsettable jib offers a 170 foot (52 m) maximum tip height.

Carson Concrete Corporation has operated for more than 35 years. In that time, it has worked on landmark projects, including the Philadelphia Phillies baseball stadium. Its crews completed the concrete frame work of the 50 story St. James Place apartment complex in Philadelphia.
