ConExpo success for Terex

30 April 2008

Terex described ConExpo as “a show of superlatives.” Of its 60 machines on display six were cranes, exhibited inside. Equipment valued at more than $ 50 million was ordered from Terex Cranes during the show, $ 30 million of which was by AmQuip for Terex–Peiner towers. Popular in the US is the 170 ton capacity AC 140, eight orders for which were taken at the show.

Steve Filipov, president and CEO of Terex Cranes, commented, “ConExpo this year proved to be a great success for Terex Cranes with over $ 50 million sold. We see the signs of a US recovery in the hydraulic crane business and crawlers (under 200 tons) have also shown some improvement over prior years. Tower crane sales are booming and we are increasing production at our German, Italian, and US operations to meet demand.

We have implemented our new pricing and we are receiving orders, however, US rental rates continue to lag due to a competitive environment which could slow the recovery if no increases are pushed through to the end customer in the short term.”
