FCOC to host new legislature meeting

The Florida Crane Owners’ Council (FCOC) is to host a discussion panel of crane industry professionals to talk about the new OSHA crane operator certification law, which becomes effective November 14, 2014.

The free of charge meeting, set to take place at the Sheraton Suites Hotel, Orlando Airport, on December 7, is open to crane owners from the states of Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Up for discussion is the new revised OSHA Crane & Derrick Standard, Subpart CC of 29 CFR 1926.1427, which states that all crane operators will have to have documentation that indicates the type and capacity of crane they have been certified to operate effective November 14, 2014.

The FCOC panel discussion will enable crane owners to better understand what this law states and requires, as well as also providing them with an opportunity to voice concerns before the law becomes operational.

Panel members include Brian J. Sturtecky CSP, OSHA area director, Jacksonville; Billy Smith, senior VP of NBIS Claims & Risk Management; Debbie Dickinson, executive director, Crane Institute Certification (CIC); Graham Brent, executive director, NCCCO; and Allyson Butts, assessment program manager, NCCER.
