Ferro to open SC&RA Specialized Transportation Symposium

14 January 2011

Anne S. Ferro, Administrator of the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), will be the opening speaker at the SC&RA Specialized Transportation Symposium, March 2-4, at The Westin Indianapolis, Indianapolis, IN. Ms Ferro's presentation will give participants the opportunity to learn about a number of important pending rules and their direct and long-range impact on the entire transport industry. She also is expected to provide advice on how to balance realities of infrastructure demand versus heavy-haul capabilities.

Ferro came to FMCSA in November 2009 from the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA) where she served as president and CEO from 2003 to 2009, the first woman to hold this position. Between 1997 and 2003, she served as Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administrator, where she established a strong record in highway safety, regulatory compliance and agency leadership.

Also participating at the symposium will be Bryan L. Price, an FMCSA Transportation Specialist, who will appear at a separate session to discuss the controversial Driver Safety Measurement System to the Pre-employment Screening Program of the Agency’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability program (formerly Comprehensive Safety Analysis).
