Grove GMK5225

Manitowoc will introduce the new Grove GMK5225 all-terrain crane at ConExpo. The crane is appearing for the first time internationally and adds to Grove's five-axle range of all-terrain cranes. The company says the crane sets a new standard in its class.

The crane has a rating of 225 tons, while for markets outside the US it has a 170 metric ton rating and is designated GMK5170. It boasts the strongest load chart in the 200 - 230 ton class, according to Manitowoc, and also has the longest boom in its class at 210 feet.

The GMK5225 can achieve tip heights of up to 328 feet when working with jib extensions. It has axle spacings specifically designed for US market requirements. It also offers maximum on-site flexibility with a choice of four outrigger width settings.

A Cummins engine is available as an option, although the machine at ConExpo will feature the standard Mercedes engine.

Manitowoc says having the choice of engines will appeal to crane owners in the US, as will the optimum on-road/off-road performance that comes from the engine combined with the Allison transmission and two-speed transfer case.

Also featured on the GMK5225 is: Megatrak suspension, ECOS electronic control, all-wheel steer and TWIN-LOCK boom pinning.
