HiVision is Hiab’s new system to operate cranes using a virtual reality (VR) headset instead of having a direct view of the load.

The operator sits in the cab of the truck and uses joysticks to operate the functions of the crane. Cameras on top of the crane allow the operator to see the working area and operate the crane using the VR goggles and the Hiab HiVision 3D control system.

It offers safe and comfortable crane operation from inside the truck cabin, Hiab said. Forestry work is a typical application and it will be launched at April’s Bauma construction equipment exhibition in Germany.
