Hirschmann names CEO

Dr. Wolfgang Babel has been named CEO of Hirschmann Automation and Control, Neckartenzlingen, and Lumberg Automation - Belden Deutschland GmbH, Schalksm├╝hle. Dr. Babel, who has been a member of the Hirschmann executive since October 2007, succeeds Reinhard Sitzmann, who will be concentrating on supervisory board appointments.

Dr. Babel studied electrical engineering at the Friedrich Alexander University of ErlangenNuremberg and later earned doctorates at the Columbia Pacific University in San Francisco (Ph. D.) as well as Friedrich Alexander University (Dr.-Ing). His career began at Diehl GmbH where he held leading posts in various divisions. After 10 years he moved to Endress+Hauser Conducta GmbH & Co., Gerlingen, where he was responsible initially for development, and he eventually became CEO. In addition, he also played a major role in developing the worldwide solution business with in the Endress+Hauser Group.
