Huisman to build automated stacking cranes

Dutch crane and engineering specialist Huisman has been awarded an order from Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) for a series of Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) for efficient handling and buffering of containers.

The ASCs feature a fully automated process for handling and buffering containers, providing a reliable solution for enhanced operational efficiency, required for 24/7 operational time.

Huisman said it is committed to providing cutting edge solutions by using its in-house engineering and production expertise which includes high tech automation and motion compensation systems.

Manufacturing process

Huisman divides the manufacturing process between two of its European facilities, with all welding and pre-assembly taking place in the Czech Republic and final assembly in Schiedam, the Netherlands.

Commissioning and testing will take place at the ECT Delta terminal at the Maasvlakte, in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Huisman’s proximity to this location offers a logistical and sustainable advantage.
