Imperial Crane places air handling unit atop Chicago high school
By D.Ann Shiffler09 March 2010
A winter snow storm did not hamper Imperial Crane Services crews from placing a 35,000-pound air handling unit atop the new South Shore High School project in Chicago, USA.
Working with A&H Mechanical, Imperial crews used its 500-ton capacity Liebherr LTM 1400 with luffer.
Imperial crane operator Fred Pierce completed the eight-point pick in the blind while using a communication system for constant contact, the company said.
Despite the weather and a tight jobsite, Imperial finished the lift on schedule.
The South Shore High School is a project of George Solitt.
