Imperial Crane Services has been wielding its check book in recent weeks with the purchase of a multimillion dollar equipment package, including a Sany crawler and rough terrain cranes, five new Tadano rough terrains and a new 600-ton Liebherr.

The US-based crane rental and sales agent has earmarked 2012 as a year for growth - both in terms of fleet and national footprint. The company has been steadily adding locations throughout the US and is now focused on several areas of construction, including refinery and industrial projects.

The recent equipment purchases come as the company predicts an upbeat crane rental and sales market for this year.

Imperial will take delivery of two 40-ton rough terrains, six 65-ton rough terrains, and a 110-ton and 220-ton crawler in February.

Already, one of the crawlers is scheduled for long-term work in a nuclear facility. As Imperial forecasts a large potential with this product line, it has an option on an additional 20 rough terrain and crawler cranes for rental or new equipment sales.

The firm's new crane stock order also includes five new Tadano rough terrain cranes, ranging in size from 55 to 100 tons. In addition, the company has a 600-ton Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 on order, making it one of only a few companies in North America with a crane of this capacity.
