Liebherr big guns

30 April 2008

New 220 ton mobile and 1100 ton capacity crawler cranes are under development at LiebherrWerk Ehingen in Germany. The massive crawler–part of the company's LR series–is due for launch next year, but as yet no model designation or technical details have been made available.

A preliminary load chart on the new five axle LTM 1200–5.1, which will be launched towards the end of 2005, meanwhile, indicates that the crane will have a seven–section 236 foot boom, with the 220 ton maximum capacity over the rear of the crane at around 10 feet radius and on 43 feet of boom. Maximum 360 degree lifting capacity is 158 tons on the 43 foot boom length. Maximum capacity at full boom extension is 10.4 tonnes at 46 feet radius.

The crane will have an operating weight of 66 tons and the carrier engine is a 496 hp Tier 3 Liebherr diesel. The crane's main travel dimensions are 50 feet (L) by 13 feet (H) by 10 feet (W).
