NCCCO issues updated response to Covid-19 crisis
08 May 2020
NCCCO is continuing to monitor the Covid-19 information coming from national, state, and local authorities. At this time, NCCCO has announced the following changes regarding testing availability.
Paper/pencil test administrations
NCCCO will continue to work with Test Site Coordinators to schedule and hold traditional paper/pencil test administrations at locations that meet necessary safety precautions as directed by national, state, and local authorities, including the following guidelines:
- Provide a thoroughly sanitized location for all individuals involved including: tables, chairs, pencils and other testing materials.
- Ensure the testing facility complies with 6 foot social distancing guidelines during registration, breaks and testing stations.
- Ensure there is appropriate spacing for one candidate per each 6 ft. table.
- Make hand sanitizer and tissue available to candidates, chief examiners, and proctors.
- Regularly clean all frequently touched surfaces at the testing facility, including doorknobs, desktops, testing tables, etc.
Candidates who are ill, presenting with fever, cough, or respiratory symptoms, including flu-like symptoms will not be permitted to test and should adhere to the emergency cancelation policy as found in the candidate handbook.

Computer-based test administrations
As of May 1, 2020, PSI opened approximately 75% of their owned and operated sites. Openings continue to be a very fluid process as state, city, and county determine openings. Third-party sites will continue to become available over the coming weeks. All sites continue to operate at less than 100% capacity to ensure social distancing requirements are met. You can find an updated list of closures and anticipated opening dates here. This list is updated daily.
Even in areas where openings are restricted, because NCCCO certificants are considered essential personnel, limited testing may be available.
The best way to determine availability is during the scheduling process. To schedule an exam, submit your CBT application online; within two business days candidates will receive an email from PSI with instructions on scheduling online or through their call center.
Candidates who wish to wear face coverings and/or medical gloves may do so. Candidates will be required to remove facemasks during the check-in process to verify identity and ensure security. PSI has created a FAQ regarding sites, safety, and sanitation.
