Tower crane manufacturer Comansa has added a pair of large new flat top models to its 21LC series.

Both the new 21LC600 and 21LC650 are evolved from the 21LC550 model. They are 20 or 25 tonne maximum load with jibs between 30 and 80 metres. Jib length can be altered in 5 metre increments and the maximum tip load is 4.95 tonnes. An optional boom configuration for both models allows a 5 metre extension at the tip of the boom to give a radius of 85 metres.

Compared with the 21LC550, load capacities are typically 16 percent higher on the 21LC600 and 23 % higher for the 21LC650, the company said.

A new feature on these models beneficial on sites with limited space is the shorter, modular counter jib. It is between 16.4 and 24.4 metres long and there are five possible configurations. This is already a feature on the larger 21LC750, 21LC1050 and 21LC1400 models.

Standard on both new models is the DT type double trolley with automatic changeover. Single trolley (ST) is also possible to simplify maintenance and increase load capacity on short booms. Hoists are 50 kW on the 20 tonne version and 65 kW on the 25 tonne version as standard. A 110 kW option is available for both models. It can run at up 290 metres a minute and carry 1,570 metres of hoist rope. Also standard is the Effi-Plus function to increase lifting and lowering speeds for light loads. It shortens lifting cycles without using more power.

Access has been improved to the turntable and the slewing upper part. A revised cathead design facilitates the passage of lifting cables. A new ladder improves access to the cab platform directly via the turntable. It helps prevent falls from the upper level and is easier to transport, the company said.

Maximum freestanding height is 85.8 metres on the 2.5 x 2.5 metre tower. For climbing there is a new cage, the J3A-11, like the J3-20 but longer and with the rollers further apart. An auxiliary hoist is included and it can be transported in standard containers.

Both new models have the L version of the Cube cabin as standard fitment with the XL version an option.
