Plantforce launches heavy haulage division

Plant hire specialist Plantforce Rentals in the UK has invested in a fleet of heavy trucks and trailers to launch a heavy haulage division.

It will use the new equipment to offer a heavy plant and machinery movement service around the UK to external customers. As an experienced equipment provider and mover it is now “able to offer a credible and competitive service of plant and machinery movements to both new and existing customers,” the company said.

Plantforce Heavy Haulage chose Volvo trucks as its preferred supplier. The new fleet additions include FL series 4 wheel rigid beavertails, FM 430 8 wheel rigid beavertails, FH 540 6 with 3 axle step frame trailers, plus FH 540 and FH16 750 tractors with 4 axle with step frame trailers.

All vehicles comply with the requirements of TFL, FORS and HS2 so deliveries can be made to tier 1 projects. All the Plantforce drivers have NPORS Loader Securer and Plant Mover qualifications.

Key to the development

Safety was a key focus in the launch of the new division. All trucks have audible warning systems, blind spot aids and proximity sensors. In addition, there are 360-degree cameras and in-cab cameras and fall restraint systems to protect drivers when they are on the trailer bed.
