Safety and crane & rigging awards

SC&RA's Transportation and Crane & Rigging groups announced the winners of their Safety Competitions during the Annual Conference in Phoenix, AZ.

The Transportation Group's Fleet Safety, Zero Accident and Fleet Safety Improvement awards are part of SC&RA's ongoing eff ort to encourage its motor carrier members to safely transport, lift and erect oversize and overweight loads.

• Four member companies received a FLEET SAFETY AWARD for having the lowest accident frequency rate in four mileage categories: MORE THAN 50 MILLION MILES: Landstar Carrier Group, Jacksonville, FL FIVE MILLION TO 20 MILLION MILES: Midwest Specialized Transportation, Inc., Rochester, MN 1.5 MILLION TO 5 MILLION MILES: Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental/DST, Inc., Milwaukee, WI 100,000 TO 1.5 MILLION MILES: LeFebvre & Sons, Inc. Elk River, MN

• Six SC&RA Transportation group members received a ZERO ACCIDENT AWARD for having no recordable injuries in all of 2004: Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, (DST, Inc.) Milwaukee, WI Emmert International, Clackamas, OR George Young Company, Philadelphia, PA LeFebvre & Sons, Inc. Elk River, MN Precision Heavy Haul, Inc., Tolleson, AZ Tidewater Crane & Rigging Co., Virginia Beach, VA

• Five companies earned a FLEET SAFETY IMPROVEMENT AWARD by showing a reduction in their accident frequency rate for miles traveled, compared to their previous year's accident frequency rate: Emmert International, Clackamas, OR Landstar Carrier Group, Jacksonville, FL Midwest Specialized Transportation, Inc. Rochester, MN Riechmann Transport, Inc., Granite City, IL George Young Company, Philadelphia, PA Crane & Rigging Safety, Crane & Rigging Safety Improvement and Zero Accident Awards to recognize outstanding achievement in the industry.
