SC&RA invests in Lift & Move USA careers events

01 September 2016

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) has pledged up to US$ 300,000 as the anchor sponsor for eight Lift & Move USA events to be held throughout 2017 and 2018.

Lift and Move USA is a one-day conference aimed at introducing the crane, rigging and specialized transport sector to young people, has held three successful events in 2015 and 2016 and drawn over 1200 high school/vocational/technical students and military veterans.

The event is jointly organized by SC&RA, the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) and KHL Group, the publishers of American Cranes & Transport and International Cranes and Specialized Transport magazines.

The next Lift & Move event will be held November 2 at Bragg Companies in Long Beach, California, and is expected to bring in over 800 students. For more information, visit www.liftandmoveusa.com.

“While Lift & Move is just one programme aimed at addressing our skills shortage, students as well as our members have been very responsive, and the SC&RA Board views the Association’s support as a key investment in our industry,” said SC&RA executive vice president Joel Dandrea.

“By merging member efforts and building partnerships across various geographic areas with high schools, trade and technical schools, unions, and other interested parties, we’re working to ultimately drive students’ career interests to the many exciting opportunities our members have to offer.

“From crane and rigging to transportation to manufacturing, our members’ needs for skilled labor are outpacing the supply and we simply have to help members in this arena.”

During the Lift & Move events, attendees are provided first-hand information on the state of the industry, the current skilled labour shortage, job requirements and opportunities, training and certification information, earnings potential, equipment displays/demonstrations and other industry-specific information.
