The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) announced the winners of the Fleet Safety, Zero Accident and Fleet Safety Improvementawards during its 2014 Annual Conference, April 22-26, at the Boca Raton Resort, Boca Raton, Florida, USA. To qualify for the awards, companies must have an exemplary record with regard to “recordable accidents” (as defined in 49 CFR 390.5 and appendix B to part 385 – II B) are accidents involving a commercial motor vehicle operating on a public road in interstate or intrastate commerce which results in a fatality; bodily injury to a person who, as a result of the injury, immediately receives medical treatment away from the scene of the accident; one or more motor vehicles incurring disabling damage as a result of the accident requiring the motor vehicle to be transported away from the scene by a tow truck or other motor vehicle. Property damage incidents incurred that exceed $10,000 (US) shall, for the purpose of this contest, be considered a recordable accident.
