SC&RA develops Qualified Operator Evaluation forms

06 December 2018

In response to the November 9th publication of OSHA’s final rule on Operator training, certification and evaluation requirements, SC&RA has developed Qualified Operator Evaluation forms for both mobile cranes and tower cranes.

Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association

As reported in the November 14 SC&RA newsletter, employers must, through an evaluation process, ensure operators are qualified to operator the machine to which they are assigned.  The components of these evaluations are spelled out in Section 1926.1427(f) – Evaluation.  The final rule allows employers to rely on previous operator assessments to meet this requirement for operators employed prior to December 10, 2018. Although the evaluation and documentation requirements are not currently in effect, SC&RA strongly encourages companies that have not started the process to not wait until February 2019 to begin evaluating your operators.

The forms were developed in conjunction with the Crane & Rigging Group Safety Education & Training and Tower Crane committees.  The forms are available for download for member compliance.
