Stevenson Crane demonstrates LTR 1100

08 December 2008

Stevenson Crane in the US hosted a group of civil contractors for a demonstration of its new Liebherr LTR 1100, a 110 US ton (100 metric ton) capacity telescopic crawler crane. Stevenson demonstrated the LTR 1100’s hybrid attributes, including the quick set-up of an all terrain and the off road manoeuvrability of a crawler crane.

“Stevenson is always looking to bring the newest lifting technology to our customers,” said Donna Stevenson, president of Stevenson Crane. “By taking delivery of only the 6th LTR 1100 in the country, we are now able to build upon our partnerships with local and nationwide contractors.”

In a construction market where contractors are doing more, with less, they turn to specialty equipment like the telescopic crawlers to get their jobs done more efficiently, according to Stevenson.

“We’re always looking for innovations in our industry to allow us to perform at the best possible level,” said Joe Fracasso, president of Area Equipment, who attended the open house and demonstration. Fracasso continued, “With its healthy pick and carry chart, compact foot print, and great mobility, this LTR 1100 will have a place on many of our bridge jobs.”

The LTR 1100 is mobilized in three truckloads and requires no assist crane for set-up. During the open house, a Stevenson operator and oiler had the crane set up, counterweights stacked and ready to hoist in less than 30 minutes.
