Top ranking

30 April 2008

Maxim Crane Works has headed up the IC50 in the top slot for the last eight years and as a result also leads the US-only index. The crane rental giant, however, recorded a lower IC Index figure this year than in 2004. US-based companies dominated the 2005 listing, as they have done in previous years. Four of the top five companies in the international listing are US-based and there are another three in the rest of the top 20. A special mention should go to Crane Rental Corporation, which leapt a huge 34 places from number 59 last year to number 25 in the IC50 Index 2005.

This initial listing of North American crane owners with the largest fleets includes 25 companies so there is scope for expansion. As with the IC Tower Index, tower crane owners could also be included in future listings. If you think your company should be listed, please contact the editor of ACT at the editorial address for an entry form.

Estimation

Due to a lack of available information in just one case we have based company equipment fleet figures on IC estimates. As the vast majority of crane-owning companies are privately held, it can be diffi cult to obtain and verify figures, although we do approach independent industry figures for their opinions.
