Tower crane turnout in Turnhout

Dutch crane rental company Stravers Torenkranen, working on behalf of Belgium-based construction company Interbuild, is using six Terex flat-top tower cranes at a job site in the Belgian town of Turnhout. The cranes are being used to erect multiple apartment buildings and a museum.

The cranes comprise two CTT 332-16 units and four CTT 231-10 units. The tallest has been set up with a free-standing height of 92 metres. 72 trucks were used to transport the cranes from a Stravers’s location in the Dutch town of Veghel to the job site.

Each crane took a four-person team a day to erect. The cranes will remain on-site for around a year-and-a-half and will be used to lift prefab components, concrete buckets and other building materials.

“There were two reasons why we decided to only use Terex cranes for this job site,” said Berry Stravers – owner and general manager of Stravers Torenkranen. “First, they had the required lifting capacities. Second, it was remarkably easy to position them in an overlapping arrangement on the available space.”

According to Terex, 120 out of 130 cranes in Stravers Torenkranen’s fleet are Terex tower cranes.
