Specialised trailer manufacturer XL has launched two new models – the XL Hydraulic and Mechanical Extendable trailers
Designed to heavy-haul spec, the new trailers feature a new patent-pending main deck design and extend-a-trac technology.
The XL HDE is available in a 40-ton (36-tonne) and a 45-ton (41-tonne) capacity, while the XL MDE is available in a 35-ton (32-tonne), 40-ton (36 tonne) and 45-ton (41-tonne) capacity.
Both hydraulic and mechanical models feature a new one-piece track pan design, adding stability to the extend-a-trac. Extend-a-trac allows users to extend and retract the trailer without hooking and unhooking air and electric lines.
Traction aids on the rear bridge transition assist when loading, while 4 pan style D-rings on the rear deck and gooseneck add tie-down versatility. The trailers come prepped for a flip axle and 36” (0.9 m) long flip neck.
The HDE 2 axle carries a 48’ (14.6 m) long trailer and has a 28’ 7” (8.7 m) main closed deck that extends up to 49’ 11” (15.2 m) with extension stops every 24” (0.6 m). The 10’5” (3.1 m) long hydraulic neck offers variable ride height with seven positions.
The MDE 2 axle carries a 48’ (14.6 m) long trailer and has a 29’ (8.8 m) main closed deck that extends up to 50’ 4” (15.3 m) with extension stops every 24” (0.6 m). It also features a 10’ (3 m) long full-width gooseneck with 49” (1.2 m) fifth wheel height and 84” (2.1 m) swing clearance.
